Travel Insurance Chaos in Europe

The vacations or business trips of hundreds of thousands of passengers were disrupted by volcanic ash in Iceland.

Travel insurance companies are going to be bail out some of the loss at least. Ash continued to erupt into the air from a volcano in Southern Iceland on Friday. Europe's air traffic control was on a flight cancellation spree throughout the week. The insurance news was that travelers were left in an utter chaos and tried to make alternate plans. It can be noted that the last week saw the closure of Europe's three biggest Airports. Many travelers were left confused about whether their travel insurance would cover delays which go over a a couple of hours.Hotel stays and meals out may cause a lot.

So, travel associations gave out a warning to travelers to stay at home and check with the airline before reaching the airport. If you bought the insurance policy before April 13, you will most probably get the travel delay coverage amount. You will get your compensation amount, but your expenses should be reasonable.

Whatever you spend on hotel, food and toiletries can be reimbursed upto $150. Harvey compares the travel insurance plans for travelers. The 23 US carriers are providing a hotline number for travelers in need. Also, it is still not clear whether those passengers would be compensated who were forced to cancel their trip due to eruption. Best is being hoped!
